Has been a hectic weekend. We went up to Owen Sound on saturday morning with Stacy’s father and brother, kind of a meeting of the families. Went to my parents house for diner and stopped off at StoneTree to hammer out some of the wedding details.
We got a lot of it sorted out. Picked the meal, rented a projector, talked tables and linens and drink costs. All that fun stuff that needs to be sorted. About all thats left in that front is to tell them final numbers for the meal and make sure one of the deserts dosen’t contain lactose (which we mistakenly picked two cheese cakes to begin with). So, all that wedding jazz is coming along nicely.
While I was up Kirk had his camera up there and I was fidding with it. It’s a Cannon Digital Rebel, first generation I think. Man is that a sweet ass camera. I’m used to my little Nikon point and shoot thingy, but once you get the larger SLR in your hands and start fiddling with the options, it is a sweet sweet thing. I just wish I could affort one in some shape or form. Maybe I’ll take a look and see whats on Ebay at the moment.
We headed from Owen Sound back to Brampton on saturday night and this morning got up and went to look for fabric and a pattern for Stacys bridesmaids. Well, Stacy did. I sat around and read my bood, heh. Took the Go bus from Brampton back to Toronto in the early afternoon.
We’ve started to get reply cards back. I feel a bit bad as I still have to get two addresses and send out the invitations to those two people. Hopefully they don’t get the wrong idea, heh.
Anyway, off to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. we’ll see if it’s any good.
I’ve been using Digg for a while on recomendation of Basil, one of my co-workers. I read it through Sage (the Firefox RSS extension) so I see the title and then the blurb, I click the title and go to Digg and can click on the link to view the actual article or just read the comments.
Ok, good, everything is buzzing along nicely.
That is, up until a week or two ago. I guess their implementing some new features or something but now you have to log in to view certain stories. Through the RSS feed, this seems to be about 90% of the stories and there is no indication when viewing the header if you have to log in. So, suddenly 90% of the links I click on bring me to a login page. I’m sorry, I don’t want to log in. I don’t care to comment. I’m just here for the news.
I don’t like being tracked.
I put up with this for a week or two but as progressively more and more stories went behind the login screen I’ve had enough. So, fuck you digg. I’ll find my news somewhere else.
Nothing big changing at the moment. I’ve made a few cosmetic changes which should fixup some rendering issues in IE and cleaned up the quotes page a bit.
I’m not sure if I’m totally happy with the quotes page yet, but it is looking better.
Also done a few internal changes, nothing thats visible from the outside, but consolidated some controllers that didn’t really make sense to be split apart. Added a favicon for no particular reason.
I’ve been poking at photos, going back, erasing it, poking again so we’ll see how long it takes me to get them back online in any shape that I can actually stand.
UPDATE With that, all of the quotes off of the old site, plus a couple of new ones, are now posted on the quotes page.
I’ve been playing wow for a while now and there are a few things that really piss me off, and they don’t have to do with the game. They have to do with the people that play the game.
I really, really, don’t understand the enjoyment people gain from killing a character that is so far below them one shot and their dead. There is no challenge. There is no way I could possible fight back.
But, not just that, waiting around and killing them again, and again as they respawn. Or, hiding your character somewhere so they can’t see you, wait thirty seconds and kill them again. I really don’t get it. How is that enjoyable? Are you so bloody pathetic that this is fun for you? Does it make you feel skeaky and all powerful? I’ve got news for you, it’s just pathetic and sad really.
About all it really does is drive people that want to play away. If it’s impossible to complete my quest then what good is the game?
Oh, and before you say, well don’t play on a PvP server if you don’t want to PvP. I’ve got no problems with PvP and actually find it kind of fun sometimes. The difference being, I’m attacking/defending people who are usually my level +-4. There is at least a bit of challenge in there. When it takes more then one shot to kill the other character.
In conclusion, people suck.
Well, I’ve finaly done it, I got a new site up. I’ve been working on this on and off for months. Going through dozens of site designs, getting bored, coming back. Finally got a base pushed out today that I can build off of.
A lot of information isn’t here at the moment. I’ll have to see what I decide to bring back. I know I’ll bring the photos back just have to get that portion of the site written.
I’ve done this one in Ruby on Rails, which is pretty sweet ass for making websites, keeps the drudgery down and the coolness up. Which is probably why I’m moving my blog off of LiveJournal. LJ works really well at what it does but I like to be able to control, tweek and fiddle. Having all my data over here gives me that ability.
Not sure if I’ll pull the LJ posts over here or not. Maybe a few of the last ones, once I figure out the best way to do it.
Anyway, here it is, the shiny new everburning. We’ll see where this one goes.
