Away with ye, 2007

Categories: Books, Life

With a month of silence, in rings 2008. Its been a hectic few weeks. Christmas, weddings, new years, vacation, lots of things going on. None of those being blogging.

Too much stuff to really catch up on here. Hopefully I’ll be better at this in the new year. Tho, I wasn’t doing so bad last year I don’t think.

Anyway, been playing a bunch of video games. Just finished Jericho. Was pretty fun, you don’t get many achievement points on the normal setting but that just means I’ll need to play parts of it again. Spent a good chunk of time the last few days reading Black man by Richard Morgan. Good book so far, I’m almost at the end. That said, I’d recommend his other stuff over this one, Altered Carbon was fantastic.

Not quite sure what to expect in the new year. But, it should be fun.

He’s not dead, shoot him again.

Apparently, no-one shot me again. I’m still kicking. A little behind on the blogging so I’m not going to catch up. I’ll just skim the last month. Owen and Natalies wedding was a lot of fun. I left my position at TrekLogic for one at Security Compass which should be interesting.

There have been some books, some movies, some video games. Other events, trials and tribulations. But, that’s the condensed version.

Hopefully things are slowing down a bit and I’ll be blogging regular like again but we’ll see.

Back from the Sunset

Categories: Life, Travel

So, I’m back in the city again for a while. In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve been, I spent a week in Owen Sound gaming, drinking, and doing other geeky things. I then ended up in North Carolina for two weeks for business related things.

North Carolina wasn’t bad except for the fact that I got threatened with arrest for taking pictures of some of the buildings downtown. I checked afterwards and it isn’t actually illegal to take pictures of buildings in the States yet but, I also read that if you argue with the cops they’ll find some other reason to arrest you.

The whole thing was pretty stupid since all it really did was stop me from shopping. I was downtown looking for something for Stacy and after the incident just went home. Talk about destroying your tourism dollars.

Anyway, got back from the States and had Owens bachelour party at my place on Saturday. That was more drinking, youtube videos, and a large quantity of Guitar Hero II. I bought a second guitar just for some hot guitar-on-guitar action. Hit up a few bars afterwards with a live band playing at the Hideout which was pretty cool.

That’s about it for now. Off to Owens wedding on the weekend and then I think we actually have a couple weekends without anything penciled into them. So, video game time, heh.

Mmm, Timbits

Categories: Life

So, having had some pie on the weekend I figured today I should actually have a birthday treat as well. You know, to mark the day.

Since I actually got invited to Hortons today for the daily coffee break I went up and got myself a small box of Timbits. Sadly, I only got to eat 9 of these tasty morsels. Someone, who we shall call, in order to protect their identity, B. Murphy, no, that’s too obvious, Basil M., yea, that’s good, ate one of them.

I must admit, they were tasty, but sweet hell they’re sugary.

From 0 to tasty in 5400 seconds….

Stacy made me a pie for my birthday. (It isn’t my birthday yet, but as I previously lamented, she won’t be here for most of that.)

She made the one true type of pie. Lemon Meringue.

Now, I must say I like a good Lemon Meringue pie. But, and this is an earth shattering, birthday distroying, life altering but, it must be lemony enough. How lemony you ask?

Lemony enough to cause a slight curl to your toes when you eat it.

Lemony enough that if you don’t have a beverage on hand while eating it you lose the ability to swallow.

Lemony enough that if you eat 2-3 pieces in one sitting you have an over powering urge to throw up since it’s so bloody lemony.

In my official capacity as Lemon Meringue pie judge, Stacys was pretty close. The birthdays were saved. A small crack appeared in the moon but the earth didn’t shatter. My life was altered, in that I ate two pieces and it probably wasn’t a good waist-line based idea.
